Parks Services incorporates elements of park design, development and management to create a greenspace system that is enjoyed as a fundamental part of life in Waterloo.  In partnership with Recreation and Leisure Services, Environmental Services and Development Services, we provide Waterloo residents all elements of urban greenspace from passive walks in one of the City’s many woodlots,  to organized sporting activities. 

Park Operations staff offer a variety of services with respect to the daily operations, improvement and expansion of parks, sports fields, and greenspaces. These services help enable the public to have a sense of pride within our community.

Our services include:

• Maintenance and Monitoring of 800 hectares of Parks and Greenspaces which includes 112 kms of Community Trails
• Management of Sports Fields and Facilities
• Facilitation of Sports Tournaments, Special Events and Festivals 
• Turf Maintenance of Sports and Passive Areas
• Pesticide Reduction through our Plant Health Care Program
• Inspection and Maintenance of 70 Playgrounds
• Parkland & Facility Construction Services
• Environmental Maintenance Strategies (including noxious weed control)
• Snow Removal Services - city sidewalks, school crossings, traffic islands, park trails, facility lots and bus stops
• Public Education on Parkland Issues
