Waterloo election 2018 - important update - the nomination date has changed

The City of Waterloo's 2018 municipal election is taking place on October 22, 2018.

As a result of the Municipal Elections Modernization Act 2016, the nomination period for individuals wishing to register as candidates has changed.

  • The nomination period for 2018 opens on May 1, 2018 and ends July 27, 2018 at 2 p.m.

All individuals wishing to register as a candidate for the 2018 election must file their nomination papers within this timeframe.

  • It is anticipated the Province of Ontario will release the prescribed nomination form on or after April 1, 2018 which will include the new requirement for 25 supporting signatures on the nomination form.
