Teachers on strike? City of Waterloo has you covered

(Waterloo, Ont. – Jan. 10, 2013) Parents need look no further than the City of Waterloo to keep their kids busy during the teachers’ day of protest on Friday, Jan. 11. 

Waterloo public elementary school teachers are planning a day of protest at all elementary schools in the province tomorrow. The City of Waterloo has a host of programs and activities available for parents looking for fun and affordable options to keep their kids busy. 

Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex

PA Play Day
Our summer leaders are ready to play games and have fun with your kids.From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Hauser Haus. This program is geared to children ages five to 12 and the cost is $39.00 for the day. Register online with course code 149678 or call 519-886-1177, ext. 221. 

Swimming
Kidsplash (age 6 yrs. and under): 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Public swim, with waterslide, swirl pool and diving boards: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Family Swim: 7:05 to 8 p.m.
Public Swim: 8 to 9:30 p.m. 

Skating
Parent & child shinny: 1:30 to 2:50 p.m.
Public skate: 4 to 4:50 p.m. 

RIM Park

Parent & child skate: 9:30 to 10:50 a.m.
Youth basketball (age 12 years and up): 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring proper footwear and your own basketball.
Youth basketball (age 14 to 17 years): Bring proper footwear and your own basketball. 

City of Waterloo Museum
Current exhibition Agricultural Roots will be open 9:30 am to 4 p.m. Free admission.

Bechtel Park

Time Out for Tots: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 6 mos to 6 years.
