On the last Friday of each month, everyone is invited to explore the exciting arts, culture and cuisine of the city's core. From delicious diner specials, to exciting community events, to great music and art exhibits, each final Friday has something new to experience and showcases the amazing range of things taking place in uptown Waterloo.


Final Fridays take place the last Friday of every month. In 2017, the dates are:

Waterloo Public Library − DIY Days: WPL Knits & Crochets 

Drop in for conversation and fun. All levels and abilities are welcome to join us for this casual program. Free, no registration required. (2:30 − 4 p.m.)


Uptown Gallery − Artist Demonstration:
 Artist Michelle Salter will be demonstrating mixed media drawing with pastels. Free. (12:30 − 2 p.m.)


Bauer Café −February Specials (11 a.m. −  11 p.m.)
                1. Puppy Love Mocha, a salted, dark chocolate moch
                2. Hunka' Burnin' Love Hot Chocolate, a Mexican spiced hot chocolate

Relish Cooking Studio − #FINALFRIDAYS Lupper In A Snap

Carter's Osh Kosh − Colouring Contest and 20% off:

New! Final Friday Play With Clay

Looking for something relaxing to do on Final Friday?  Join us at the Clay and Glass Gallery for a special Play With Clay.  You will get a piece of clay, some instruction, and then let your imagination go! Projects will be available for pick up at a later date, with the opportunity to glaze at a regular Sunday Play With Clay session. This is a 19+ event, with limited space.  RSVP to

Tree of Light: Interactive art installation in Waterloo Public Square. Play and take a selfie where art, tech and community meet! Created by artists Laura Harrison and John Russell. (7 − 9 p.m.)

State Of Becoming: Last chance to check out Button Factory Arts Emerging Artist exhibition. What is the role of the artist, and specifically the emerging generation of artists in such charged times? (10 a,m. - 9 p.m.)


Drop in open studio: the studio is open to the public for Final Fridays! Bring supplies and join other artists and work on artistic projects in a stimulating environment. Free for members and non-members only on Final Friday! (10 a.m. . - 4 p.m.)

How to get involved

  • Attend a Final Friday event;
  • If you are interested in hosting an event, having your event promoted/advertised as a Final Friday event or would like to be in touch with someone to coordinate an event, please contact the Final Fridays team or complete a participation form.
  • Participating organizations, businesses, and artists are strongly encouraged to promote Final Fridays on their website, social media, and by displaying print materials which will be delivered monthly.
  • All uptown Waterloo businesses are encouraged to help promote Final Fridays on their website, social media, and by displaying print materials which will be delivered monthly. Participants are also encouraged to advertise existing promotions or develop new ones to be featured as part of the art, culture, and cuisine theme.

This exciting community collaboration supports the city's culture plan. Place−making activities like Final Fridays spark imagination and curiosity, and establish a sense of belonging and community. This monthly event promotes the ongoing development of a strong commercial sector with an emphasis on local small business and a wide range of dining, entertainment, and culture options in uptown.
