There are many volunteer opportunities with the City of Waterloo to fit your interests, talent and schedule. Volunteers are vital to our special events, seniors programs and services, heritage services, environmental events, aquatics and more.

Friends of Waterloo Park volunteer

As scheduled

Experienced volunteers to lead projects supporting Waterloo Park initiatives.  Positions: 

Chair - chair meetings and oversee all aspects of Friends of Waterloo Park event, sponsorship and fundraising planning and execution in close collaboartion with other Friends of Waterloo park volunteers and City staff

Community Events Team Members - program, plan and coordinate community engagement and events for Friends of Waterloo Park

Communications Team Members - coordinate print, website, social media and communications for Friends of Waterloo Park

Finance Team Co-lead - attend Friends of Waterloo Park meetings and oversee Friends of Waterloo Park finance and bookkeeping matters

Fundraising Team Member - coordinate fundraising support

Lunch Program volunteer

Wed 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Seeking friendly volunteer with good communication skills to assist with a lunch program for seniors at the Adult Rec. Centre.  Set tables, serve lunch then assist with clean-up.  Your lunch is provided.  Contact volunteer services or apply online.

Driver for senior outing day program 

Minimum one shift per week for about one hour, morning or afternoon.

Just one hour in the morning or afternoon at least once per week can make a difference to local seniors! Provide a ride in your own vehicle to or from the Senior Outing Day Program at the Adult Rec. Centre. Must be 25+, have a reliable vehicle, safe driving record and a G license. Mileage reimbursed. Shifts currently available are Mon 3 p.m., Tue 3:30 p.m., Wed 3:30 p.m., or Thu 3:30 p.m.  Contact volunteer services or apply online.

Grocery list shopper Wed morning or weekday

Do you like to grocery shop? We are seeking reliable, friendly volunteers with a vehicle to pick up a grocery list from a Waterloo senior, purchase the groceries, deliver the groceries then help put them away. Flexible opportunity with minimum committment of two hours per week or every other week. Contact volunteer services or apply online.

Waterloo home support: driver for seniors Weekday shifts as scheduled 

Help a local senior remain independent by driving them to appointments in town in your vehicle. Must be 25+, have a valid G licence, reliable vehicle and a safe driving record.  Mileage reimbursed.

 

Also seeking a long distance driver for rides to Toronto, London, Hamilton, etc.
