(Waterloo, Ont. – Sept. 5, 2014) Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for our area today, with humidex values reaching near 40 degrees this afternoon.

The City of Waterloo reminds residents they can seek relief from excessive heat in common areas at the following City of Waterloo facilities:

  • Waterloo City Centre is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • RIM Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Albert McCormick Community Centre is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Adult Recreation Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Residents can visit Lions Lagoon splashpad, or cool down during our scheduled public swims at the Swimplex and Moses Springer outdoor pool

Please note that ongoing paid programming as well as other activities may limit facility access.
