Connect with the new City of Waterloo neighbourhoods website

City of Waterloo neighbourhoods are strong, connected, and now have more resources available online at The new website is an easy to navigate virtual space to help residents connect, plan, get inspired, and learn more about grants and services for neighbours.

The site includes a new Gathering Spaces mapping tool to make it easy for groups to find a nearby place to host a meeting, event, or other social gathering. The many how-to guides available on the site can help groups plan for projects like community gardens, block parties, and projects in parks. To expand inclusion throughout the community, the new website also offers a translate feature that allows users to change the website language, information for new residents in Waterloo, and how-tos for connecting with neighbours in multi-residential buildings.

“The power of our strong, connected communities is in the personal relationships that neighbours build with one another. There is no substitute for neighbours meeting face-to-face,” said Mayor Dave Jaworsky. “We’re happy to introduce this new online space and the tools to encourage and inspire those connections.”

The neighbourhoods site was a recommendation of the Neighbourhood Strategy, approved by council in 2018 and informed by more 1700 residents. The new site includes information on the various funding opportunities available to support inclusive projects and events that bring neighbours together. The translate feature has also been added to the City of Waterloo’s corporate website.
