New development to create additional affordable housing units

Council has approved several amendments to the zoning by-law that will allow additional storeys to be added to the high-rise development at 145 Columbia Street West, increasing the height of the proposed residential towers to 20 and 23 storeys. In approving the increased tower heights, the development includes an additional 100, one- bedroom units.  The high-rise building will be constructed to a LEED Silver or higher standard, and will include a contribution to the City’s affordable housing grant program.

Located on the south side of Columbia Street West, east of Phillip Street, the development will consist of a total of 535 units with 545 bedrooms. The development also includes street level retail space.

 

Council approves addition to building

Council has approved an addition to 316 King Street North that will see a 14 storey structure that will add 81 units and 141 bedrooms. The site currently contains an existing 10 storey residential apartment building with 25 units and 123 bedrooms that is to be reconfigured into 42 units and 52 bedrooms. A two storey parking structure will be attached to the existing 10 storey apartment building. The combined development will contain 123 units and 193 bedrooms.
