Moses Springer pool and other outdoor recreation opening in Step 1

Moses Springer outdoor pool is the place to be this summer, as the City of Waterloo safely and gradually reopens our recreation facilities according to the provincial plan.

“Our aquatics team has lined up some exciting programming to welcome swimmers back to Moses Springer pool,” says Gus Siountres, Manager of Aquatics. “COVID-19 protocols will be in place and all swimmers will have a great time in a safe environment. We hope you’ll spend the hot summer days with us!”

The outdoor pool will open on Saturday, June 12, 2021 for lane swims, waterfit, and public swims. Pre-registration is encouraged, you can reserve your spot at Capacity limits will be in effect to permit physical distancing of two metres: eight people for lane swims, six to eight people for waterfit programming, and 80-110 people for public swims. Swim lessons and leadership courses will also be offered this summer at Moses Springer outdoor pool. Registration is currently open.

Outdoor fields, diamonds and bookable picnic areas across the city will open for bookings on Monday, June 14 according to the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen Step 1 guidelines:

  • Passive park/picnic bookings will be allowed with a maximum of 10 participants and COVID protocols in place
  • Outdoor soccer, cricket and baseball fields may be booked for training only, a maximum of 10 participants, with COVID protocols in place.
  • Outdoor amenities such as basketball, tennis and pickle ball courts, skate park and splash pad remain open to all with COVID protocols in place

Booking requests must be received five business days in advance. Visit to complete an online booking request form. Indoor recreation facility bookings are not available in Step 1.
