National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Posted On Thursday September 26, 2024

Today is a day to witness and honour the healing journey of residential school survivors and their families. It is a day to pause and recognize the lasting impacts that residential schools have had on thousands of Indigenous families and communities who continue to work through various stages of grieving and healing.

We encourage all residents of Waterloo and the Region to stop, reflect, learn and act.  Attend a memorial event organized by local Indigenous leaders. Explore learning resources curated by our local libraries. Donate to Indigenous-led organizations. These small yet important signs of solidarity are important today and all year round.

As a City, we re-commit ourselves to the long-term work of reconciliation so we have a better community for the seven generations yet to come.
