Staying healthy and well: a free virtual series for seniors

Posted On Thursday October 08, 2020

The City of Waterloo is hosting an online wellness event, “Staying healthy and well: a virtual series for seniors”. The free weekly series covers a wide range of interests and topics to encourage good mental and physical health in our community’s seniors. The weekly topics include mindfulness meditation, wellness through nature, emotional well-being, healthy brains, home and financial safety tips, and healthy eating habits, and are open to residents 55+, and all adults and caregivers.

“As days get shorter and we keep physically distancing to protect each other from COVID, it’s important to stay focused on our health and wellness,” said Mayor Dave Jaworsky. “We want to help people feel connected, not isolated. With in-person events on hold, we can still support our seniors with programming to socialize and interact online.”

The series will run weekly on Wednesdays, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m (except for the Remembrance Day holiday and on October 21st, when the session will run from 11:00AM-12:00PM):

October 14             Gentle movement meditation

November 18         Home fire safety tips during COVID-19

November 25         Elder abuse, fraud and financial scams
