Waterloo releases interactive map showcasing restaurants open during pandemic

Posted On Friday April 24, 2020

The City of Waterloo has produced a categorized custom Google map of restaurants and food businesses open across the city that offer pick up, curbside or delivery services during the pandemic.

“With businesses facing reduced operations as a result of physical distancing measures, the support of the local community is needed now more than ever,” says Justin McFadden, director, economic development for the City of Waterloo. “City economic development and communications staff consolidated restaurants offering online or phone ordering and reached out directly to many food service providers in the city to develop a comprehensive list for local food businesses.”

The map is searchable on Google by using the search terms: restaurants open during coronavirus waterloo, and can be found on the City of Waterloo’s COVID-19 resource page.  There are over 170 restaurants and food businesses still open, offering meals to potential clients. Residents of Waterloo are encouraged to continue to support their local businesses whenever possible during this time.

Restaurant and food businesses in Waterloo who resume operations or wish to be added to the list can do so by completing our online form. The list will continue to evolve as physical distancing continues.

The city also continues to update its business response page with an up-to-date list of programs and supports available to local businesses and arts and culture organizations during this time.
