Call for feedback on city’s draft strategic plan
The development of the City’s 2023-2026 strategic plan is now entering its last phase and the city is seeking final feedback from the community, Council and staff on the draft strategic plan.
“Developing a new strategic plan is one of the most important decisions Council will make. Listening to all sectors of our community takes time and our robust engagement strategy deeply engaged all voices,” said Mayor Dorothy McCabe, “Waterloo is a growing and changing community with our eyes on the future. It is vital to understand the challenges and risks ahead as well as our strengths, opportunities and aspirations.”
The draft 2023-2026 Strategic Plan includes a new vision, mission statement, guiding principles, strategic priorities, objectives and actions. The draft plan strives to be an accurate reflection of our community today reflecting the important feedback we have received.
The city will use the new strategic plan to continue to build our future focused, vibrant community through to 2026.
At the Mayor’s recent State of the City address, she announced a new initiative - Community Conversations. This be an opportunity to continue to engage with community partners through the implementation of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.
The draft strategic plan can be found at https://www.engagewr.ca/strategic-waterloo. Feedback can be sent to strategicplan2023@waterloo.ca by May 29. Following that date, the draft strategic plan will be revised and a recommended final version of the plan will be presented to Council on June 26. Details regarding the launch of the plan, a reporting framework and implementation will be included as part of the final report.
