Register as a third party advertiser

Changes to the Municipal Election Act in 2006 changed rules for third party advertising that supports, promotes, or opposes a candidate or a “yes” or “no” answer to a question on a ballot.

To register as an advertiser you must be an Ontario resident or either:

  • a corporation carrying on business in Ontario
  • a trade union that holds bargaining rights for employees in Ontario

To register you must complete a Notice of Registration. The printed form must be submitted in person or by an agent, and have an original signature. There is no registration fee. 

We will accept registrations from 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21.

Bring printed forms and proof of identification/address to the city clerk's office on the third floor of city hall. We're open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on business days.
