Add your name to the voters list

We encourage you to add yourself to the voters list before voting for a simpler and faster experience. If you believe you are already on the voters list, check to be sure your information is up-to-date.

Note that the ‘single name’ option on the form is meant for persons who have only one name in accordance with their cultural naming practices as recognized by the Ontario Change of Name Act. If you are registered as a voter with a single name, please ensure that you have identification documents with that name before going to vote.

Check if you are on the list, add yourself to the list or update your information using the form. If you are not on the list, a button will appear that will allow you to register.

The voters list is compiled by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) based on property assessment information and provided to the City of Waterloo.

The list contains the following information for all registered voters:

  • date of birth
  • address
  • the school board supported by the voter
  • residency status (e.g. property owner, tenant, boarder, etc.)

Candidates can access your name and address on the voters list so they can contact you through door-to-door campaigning and by mail. The list does not contain voters’ phone numbers or email addresses.

If you add your name or update your information on the voters list, you will be asked to give us your email address so that we can send you a confirmation of registration. Your email address will not be shared with candidates.
