Check if you are eligible to vote

You are eligible to vote in the municipal election if you are:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years of age

You must also be either:

  • a resident, land owner or tenant in the City of Waterloo
  • the spouse of a resident, land owner or tenant in the City of Waterloo

You must not otherwise be prohibited from voting by law.

Students can vote where they temporarily reside while attending school, and where their permanent residence is located a different municipality.

If they consider Waterloo their permanent home, they can only vote here.


Add your name to the voters list

The voters list for the election is compiled by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

You can check if you are on the voters list, register to vote, or update your information by using MPAC's voter lookup service.
