Cemeteries and Crematorium

Parkview cemetery open houseCemetery

It's not every day we have a party in the cemetery - but we are! Come check out the new cemetery expansion and stroll through a lovely park-like setting.

We'll have a number of free events and activities planned for the whole family. Explore nature on a guided nature hike through the adjacent woodland with an expert from rare Charitable Research Reserve. Download the iNaturalist app and join the growing group of citizen scientists recording their observations on biodiversity. Take a tour of the crematorium or stop by one of our information booths to learn about our resident Osprey, talk to Waterloo's master gardener and get tips on attracting bees and butterflies to your backyard.

There are free refreshments and a give-away of up to 300 perennial plants and wildflower seed packets to get your garden off to a great start.

Date: Saturday, June 16, 2018
Time: 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Location: Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Ave. E., Waterloo

(There is plenty of free parking off Bridge Street in the Manulife Soccer and Sports Field Centre parking lot.)

The expansion will officially open at 9:30 a.m. with Ward Councillors Mark Whaley and Angela Vieth planting a commemorative tree in dedication to this new area.

About our crematorium and cemeteries

The City of Waterloo provides cemetery services at its two final resting places: Parkview Cemetery and Mount Hope Cemetery.

A chapel and crematorium are onsite at Parkview Cemetery, which allows us to meet all your needs, from providing burial lots and flowerbeds, to bronze memorials and vases.

We offer professional and caring service during this difficult time, and are committed to meeting your final wishes
