Demolition permits are required to demolish a building - or a portion of a building in the City of Waterloo.


You will need to submit a copy of the property survey and the following forms to make an application.


Demolition permit fee for buildings less than 10,000 square feet


Demolition permit fee for buildings 10,000 square feet or more

$0.01 per square foot being demolished (minimum charge of $200)

You must pay the fees when you apply for a permit on the second floor of City Hall in the Integrated Planning and Public Workds department at 100 Regina St. S. We accept cash, cheques and debit.

All residential properties need a separate approval called Demolition Control before applying for a permit. You can learn more about this in our demolition control by-law.
