In 2018, a homeowner with an average assessed property value of $383,900 will pay $4,253.02 in total property taxes. Of this amount $1,277.61 is allocated to the City of Waterloo to provide a variety of services. The remaining $2,975.41 is allocated to the Region of Waterloo and our local school boards.

Of the $1,277.61 the city receives, funds are allocated for municipal services as follows:

  • Fire rescue and municipal enforcement $339.80
  • Facilities & fleet: maintenance & planning $141.89
  • Financial services & information technology $124.93
  • Community & recreation programming $82.58
  • Corporate administration $192.28
  • Waterloo Public Library $96.04
  • Roads & transportation $83.80
  • Environment & parks $108.44
  • Development, planning & engineering services $72.77
  • Economic development, arts & culture $35.07
  • Total City of Waterloo services $1,277.61
