In an effort to enhance our customer service, the City of Waterloo has installed a Textnet service and software system that enables deaf, deafened, hard-of-hearing or speech-impaired residents to more easily access and converse with us.

Several staff members in each department are trained to use the new technology.

Textnet enables you to continue to use your familiar TTY communication device; however, it converts the communication to a pop-up text message that appears on our computer screen - essentially creating an online conversation.

Incoming calls can be redirected to other Textnet users and conference calls can be conducted if required, enabling communication among several users at once.

Residents with access to a TTY can contact us by calling 1-866-786-3941.
