Postcard Haehnel’s Rexall Drug Store
Postcard printed in Canada around 1915.
Haehnel’s Rexall Drug Store sold everything from cameras and candy, to milkshakes and medicine. When A.G. Haehnel purchased the drugstore in 1906, it had already been operating as a pharmacy since 1863. Haehnel’s drug store was one of the first Rexall stores in Canada. Melvin Hahn took over the pharmacy in 1949. His son Jack Hahn took over in 1968. Hahn Pharmacy closed its doors in 1986. Do the math. That’s 125 years as a pharmacy, making it the first and oldest pharmacy in Waterloo.
