Lego Building Competition
Calling all Lego enthusiasts (and masters), this is your chance to have your work on display!
The City of Waterloo Museum is excited to invite you to a Lego building challenge! We are looking for all brick fanatics to pull out your Lego bins and get building a model of a heritage or iconic building found in the City of Waterloo. While some rules and regulations apply, we encourage you to get creative and recreate a building - one brick at a time. Voting will be held and prizes will be given out, so get building today.
Contest Rules
- There are two building categories: Heritage building (19th century) and Iconic buildings (20th century).
- Submissions must be based on a heritage or iconic building in the City of Waterloo.
- No model should be shorter than 15 cm (6 inches) high and no taller than 75 cm (30 inches).
- Submissions will be judged based on technical merit and attention to detail.
- Members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite Lego building throughout the winter 2024 exhibit.
- Submission must be registered by December 15, 2023. Please complete the registration form to register your building.
- Submissions must be dropped of by January 19, 2024 at noon and will be on display for the duration of the winter exhibit. We will contact registrants to set up delivery time and date.

The City of Waterloo Museum invites groups, curators, photographers and artists to submit proposals for future exhibitions. The Waterloo mandate must be reflected in the exhibition: The City of Waterloo Museum is a vibrant heritage portal where residents and visitors personally connect with Waterloo’s past, building shared experiences and enhancing culture in our community.
The City of Waterloo Museum serves as a community-gathering place where residents and visitors celebrate their stories, both local and global, which are unique to the City’s growth and evolution. Through its collections, exhibitions, volunteers, staff and programs, the Museum interprets the fabric of our past and points the way to its future.

The Museum has one exhibition space of approximately 1,300 square feet. We can offer a suite of 15 display cases with locking plexi-lids. It is camera surveilled and uses LED lighting. Doors and odd angles interrupt the walls, the height of the walls is approximately 9+ feet. The space does have museum standard humidity and temperature control.

The City of Waterloo Museum develops and implements a four-year exhibit plan so inclusion is dependent on space in the schedule and approval by management. Please note that the City of Waterloo Museum maintains curatorial oversight for all projects accepted. |
Exhibit Proposal Submission Requirements |
Note: Incomplete proposals will not be accepted. Only those whose exhibition proposals are under consideration will be contacted. The City of Waterloo Museum will only return submissions that include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. Please do not submit original work, slides or master copies. The City of Waterloo Museum does not accept responsibility for any loss or damages to the content of your submission package. Floor plans are available upon request.
