The Waterloo Baseball Club was reformed in 1931 with sponsorship from E. F. Seagram, marking a new chapter for organized baseball in the city. Otto “Dinty” Stuebing, a well-known Waterloo hockey coach and Hall of Fame inductee, served as a founding executive officer. Work on the new baseball diamond in Waterloo Park began in early May, and the club was officially formed on May 8. Waterloo played its first game on May 16, with its first home game in Waterloo Park on May 26, and wrapped up the season on August 14. Although the team won only two games and lost its final match, local fans were impressed by the spirit and determination of the new Intermediate team, which went on to compete in the Inter-County Intermediate B Baseball League by 1934.
