In Waterloo, when it snows, we have Winterloo! Our program is packed with events across four themes: Winter Sports, Winter Survival, Winter Cultures & Stay Warm by the Fire

  • Fri Feb 23, 2018 - 7-9 p.m. in Waterloo Public Square
  • Sat Feb 24, 2018 - 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the West Side of Waterloo Park (across from the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex) plus various other locations around Uptown Waterloo
  • Sun Feb 25, 2018 - 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the West Side of Waterloo Park (across from the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex) plus various other locations around Uptown Waterloo

Winterloo 2018 Program

Friday, Feb. 23 - 7 - 9 p.m.

  • Skate Night Date Night - Join us for a romantic evening of skating, music and warm drinks.

Saturday, Feb. 24 & Sunday, Feb. 25 - 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Stay Warm by the Fire

(located in the Visitor and Heritage Information Centre at the corner of Father David Bauer & Erb Street)

Winter Cultures

(located in the Bauer Parking Lot across from the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex on Father David Bauer Blvd)

  • Ice dogs - Don't miss the dog sled rides for children, our most popular annual event! Brought to you by Moonsnoe Kennels - a few of the dogs will be on hand on Sunday for pictures

  • Ice sculpture - Watch professional ice carvers display their skills and compete for the grand prize. Judging will commence at 3 p.m. See the carvings all day on Saturday and Sunday
  • Horse drawn carriages - Travel through Winterloo on a horse drawn carriage
  • Snow sculpting (Easter Island) - Local artist Matt Morris will be building four Easter Island style snow sculptures, two each day.
  • Waterloo Active Transportation Committee & King Street Cycle - Come out and try out the Fatbikes (winter bikes) - see what biking in the winter is all about (Saturday only)
  • Waterloo Scouts of Canada - snow painting
  • Waterloo Fire Rescue - Waterloo Fire Rescue: They will be displaying their fire truck for approximately one hour on Saturday February 24th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Other events and activities around Uptown Waterloo
  • Chili cook-off - Chainsaw Restaurant (28 King St. N., Waterloo) - Vote for uptown's best chili by sampling and voting for the people's choice. $5 gives you a sample of every entry! Saturday only from noon - 2 p.m.
  • KW Skating Club - Waterloo Public Square (75 King St. S., Waterloo) skating demonstrations in Waterloo Public Square
  • Waterloo Public Library (35 Albert St., Waterloo) - TBD
  • Princess Cinemas (46 King St.) - Free movie screenings! Tickets can be picked up at any of the Winterloo information booths.
  • The Clay and Glass Gallery (25 Caroline St. N., Waterloo) - Winter-themed arts and crafts
