Brass Fire Nozzle

Around 1900

This historic piece of fire fighting equipment is much heavier than it looks! Made of solid brass, the nozzle screws on to a rubber fire hose. The lever near the spout controls the amount of water released. The Waterloo Fire Department purchased the nozzle from Wilson and Cousins of Toronto, Canada’s oldest manufacturer of fire fighting equipment (dating back to 1881). If you look closely at the ring where the nozzle attaches to the hose, you can still see “W.F.D” engraved in the brass.
