Crown Royal Extra Rare (XR)
2007
Crown Royal 'Red Waterloo Edition' XR Whisky was first released in 2006. Crafted by Master Whisky Blender Andrew MacKay, the blend comprises of 50 whiskies, many selected from barrels at the Waterloo distillery. While there is no age statement on the product, the Waterloo distillery's last production run was in 1990. This tells us that the whisky used in this blend was at least 16 years old at the time of bottling. In addition to its significant age, it is rare because it is a blend of the last remaining stock of whisky from the Waterloo distillery. After production ceased, the whisky continued to age quietly. A fire destroyed parts of the distillery in 1993, however, some whisky was saved and used in this blend.
