Postcard, St. John’s Lutheran Church 22 Willow St. Waterloo, Ontario

This “new” church was actually the third St. John’s church. The original wood-framed church was built in 1841 at the south-east corner of King Street and Bridgeport Road. By 1882, a new 1200-person capacity brick church had replaced the old wooden building. On October 31, 1959, a huge fire gutted the church. Three years later, St. John’s Lutheran Church was rebuilt on Willow Street on the same land where distiller Joseph E. Seagram’s Bratton House once stood.
