Postcard, Waterloo Train Station
Postcard printed in Canada around 1915
At a time when train travel was the best way to go places and see things, Waterloo had no passenger train service. In 1910, a state-of-the-art train station on Regina Street connected passengers to the larger Berlin (Kitchener) station. At its peak, the station served nine trains a day – six passenger and three freight. The Canadian National Railway took over operations in 1917. With the explosion of automobiles in Waterloo, train travel became less popular. The station closed to passengers in 1934.
