Eligible candidates in the City of Waterloo may run for the following Offices:
- Mayor
- Ward Councillor
- Regional Chair
- Regional Councillor - Waterloo
- Member - Waterloo Region District School Board
- Member - Waterloo Catholic District School Board
- Member - Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest
- Member - Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud
NOTE: Candidates for Regional Chair and Councillor must file their nominations with the Regional Clerk, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener, Ontario. School Board candidates may click here for more information on where to file their nomination.
NEW FOR 2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
In December 2009, the Province of Ontario passed the Good Government Act, 2009, which introduced changes to municipal election legislation. Specifically, the amendments include the following:

The movement of Election Day from the second Monday of November to the fourth Monday of October. This year, Election Day is October 25, 2010.

Voters must now produce identification when voting in municipal elections, which must include the voter's name, qualifying address and signature. See here for a list of acceptable forms of identification.

Clerks must ensure that each voting place is accessible to voters with disabilities.
VOTING DATES AND LOCATIONS
On October 25, 2010, electors will vote at their assigned voting place. Further information on voting places will be available online beginning in September. Additionally, all electors on the Voters' List will receive notification detailing their voting place.
All electors may vote at an Advance Vote. The City of Waterloo will be hosting six Advance Votes in 2010:
