Crown Royal and Royal Salute Wooden Chest
1953
In honour of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, Distillers Corporation-Seagrams Limited and Chivas Brothers Limited jointly presented Her Majesty with bottles of Crown Royal and Royal Salute whisky housed in a presentation chest. Additional commemorative chests, such as this one, were produced as gifts for company officials. This chest belonged to Samuel Bronfman, President of the Seagram company and the man responsible for creating Crown Royal Whisky.
A large envelope and certificate accompany the chest which lists the two companies' ties to the British Monarchy and gifts made at previous Royal ceremonies.
