Serving on a City of Waterloo committee of Council is one of the ways you can get involved and make a difference in your community

There are many committees to choose from depending on your interests and experience.

Recruitment 2018

Beginning Friday, September 28, 2018, the Council of the Corporation of the City of Waterloo invites members of the public who reside, own property, own a business, work in the City of Waterloo or attend a Waterloo Campus of a Post-Secondary institution to apply for Council Boards and Committees for a term ending November 31, 2020*

The terms of reference for each Committee can be accessed by clicking the Committee title below.  Additional information for each committee is available for each Committee below. Please note meeting dates and times are approximate and are subject to change based on majority of member availability.

Advisory committee on culture - (meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.)

Audit committee- *term ending on November 14, 2022 (meets 3-4 times annually and as required)

Appeals tribunal (Can reside outside Waterloo, see eligibility requirements in terms of reference) (meets as needed)

Committee of adjustment - *term ending on November 14, 2022 (meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.)

Community grants committee - Orientation meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Meetings to review applications will be held between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. on the following dates:

      • Tuesday, January 22, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Thursday, January 24, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Tuesday, January 29, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Thursday, January 31, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Tuesday, February 5, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Thursday, February 7, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Tuesday, March 19, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Thursday, March 21, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Tuesday, November 12, 2019 - 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
      • Thursday, November 14, 2019 -6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Dog designation appeal committee (meets as needed)

Municipal heritage committee (meets on the 3rd Thursday on the month, from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.)

Sign variance committee (meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.)

Sustainability advisory committee (meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.)

Town and gown committee (meets bi-monthly, on Tuesdays, between 3:00 and 4:30 p.m.)

Uptown vision committee (meets on the 2nd Friday of the month, between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.)

Waterloo advisory committee on active transportation (meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m., 2 meetings involve a walk/cycle around the City)

Waterloo economic development advisory committee (meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month, between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.)

Waterloo park committee (meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.)

Waterloo public library board - *term ending on November 14, 2022 (meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m.).
