On the last Friday of each month, everyone is invited to explore the exciting arts, culture and cuisine of the city's core. From delicious dinner specials, to exciting community events, to great music and art exhibits, each Final Friday has something new to experience and showcases the amazing range of things taking place in uptown Waterloo.

Galleries and Exhibits

Final Fridays Art Market in Waterloo Public Square ­- 10 artist vendors with a variety of art. (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

Cobblestone Gallery - Featuring: Japanese paper cutting artist, Mark Yungblut. Each beautiful work of art is meticulously cut by hand and must be seen to truly be appreciated. (10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

Mary Allen Studio Tour  - Self-guided walking tour featuring local artists. Mary Allen Studio Tour artists set up in multiple locations in the neighbourhood. To get the best experience, visit as many locations as possible. A printable version of the tour map can be found online(http://www.maryallentour.com/map). (7 - 9 p.m.)

Seven Shores - It's sticky bun Friday! Mention Final Fridays to receive 15% off your sticky bun. While you're here, take in the artwork by local artists. (8 a.m. - sold out)

Gallery Double T - Contemporary Exhibition: Featuring original works on canvas, sculpture, and glass. (11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

UpTown Gallery - Exhibition: Drawn to Design - featuring works by Sanela Dizdar, Mary Guillaume, Mary Lou Hiller, and Ida Tong. (11 a.m. - 6 p.m.) Live portraiture and photographic panorama demos (1 - 3 p.m.). Silent auction featuring five pieces of art from UpTown Gallery artists (1 - 3 p.m.)

Final Fridays take place the last Friday of every month. Check back for the full lineup by the second−last Friday each month. Upcoming dates for 2018 are:  Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 30, and Dec. 28. 

How to get involved

  • Attend a Final Friday event;
  • If you are interested in hosting an event, having your event promoted/advertised as a Final Friday event or would like to be in touch with someone to coordinate an event, please contact the Final Fridays team or complete a participation form.
  • Participating organizations, businesses, and artists are strongly encouraged to promote Final Fridays on their website, social media, and by displaying print materials which will be delivered monthly.
  • All uptown Waterloo businesses are encouraged to help promote Final Fridays on their website, social media, and by displaying print materials which will be delivered monthly. Participants are also encouraged to advertise existing promotions or develop new ones to be featured as part of the art, culture, and cuisine theme. 

More information

This exciting community collaboration supports the city's culture plan. Place−making activities like Final Fridays spark imagination and curiosity, and establish a sense of belonging and community. This monthly event promotes the ongoing development of a strong commercial sector with an emphasis on local small business and a wide range of dining, entertainment, and culture options in uptown.
