Pools and splash pads

The pandemic situation is rapidly changing in our community. Visit our COVID-19 page for the latest updates on changes to city services. New bookings for facility rentals are on hold until further notice.

The city owns one indoor swimming complex, one outdoor pool and two splash pads. Check our swimming page for drop-in schedules and the programs page for lessons and leadership courses.

Indoor pool

The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex is home to an indoor swimming complex (what we call the ‘Swimplex').

The Swimplex has a variety of pools, a diving tower, springboards, a waterslide and a splash area for children. Male, female and alternate-needs change rooms are available.

It's open year-round with the exception of an annual maintenance closure in September. Drop-in and registered swimming programs are available.

Outdoor pool

The Moses Springer Community Centre has an eight-lane outdoor pool with two waterslides, a ramp and stair leading into the shallow end. The pool has male and female change rooms, a shaded area and picnic tables.

It's open from mid-July to mid-September. Drop-in and registered swimming programs are available.

Splash pads

Waterloo currently has two splash pads. Find details on these pages:

Splash pad during COVID-19

We are excited to welcome users to the second year of our new splash pad. Procedures for the opening of the splash pad under COVID-19 include:

  • stay home when you're sick or if you've been instructed to self-isolate
  • two meters physical distancing is required at all times
  • when there is no more space for physical distancing, splash pad time limits are 20 minutes.
You are welcome to line up to re-enter the splash pad. If no one is waiting in line to enter the splash pad, you can return to the splash pad area
  • to maximize use for all children, please limit family groups to one guardian/caregiver per family
  • practice hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • wear a face covering when entering park washrooms

There is a shaded sitting area for patrons, however please be prepared to be in the sun.
