Buy or renew your dog licence online

Follow these steps to buy or renew online:

1. Go to the DocuPet Waterloo website

  • DocuPet will send you a renewal reminder each year
  • contact Docupet if you need help

2. Complete your application

  • choose buy or renew and follow the online instructions
  • pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Debit or Discovery card

3. Get your licence tag

  • you’ll receive a unique tag for your dog’s collar

Replacement tags are $12.00. We do not charge service dogs.

Follow dog licensing rules

These rules apply to all dog owners in Waterloo:

  • all dogs over 12 weeks old must be licensed
  • your dog must wear the licence tag on its collar at all times
  • licences are valid for one year from the date of purchase or renewal
  • you may be fined if your dog is not licensed
