Learn about green burials at Parkview

Green burials are a natural means of caring for the deceased with lower environmental impact.

A green burial includes:

  • no embalming — remains must be prepared without polymer implants or other non-natural elements
  • direct earth burial — caskets or containers must be fully biodegradable
  • no grave liners or vaults — remains return naturally to the earth

Even without embalming, remains can still be prepared for burial and viewing using alternate methods.

A green burial lot can hold 1 casket and up to 4 cremations.

After each burial, the grave is backfilled with the same soil and planted with a native wildflower seed mix. The area is maintained with minimal intervention except for removing invasive plants.

Green burial location

Parkview's green burial section is located in a native wildflower meadow. To protect the meadow, we encourage visitors to use the exterior pathways when visiting the area.

Find the green burial location on the Parkview map.

Memorial engravings

To reduce environmental impacts in the green burial area, no individual memorials are permitted.

A communal stone memorial is available for engraving.
