History of Parkview and Mount Hope Cemeteries
Learn how Parkview and Mount Hope Cemeteries have served families in Waterloo for more than 150 years.
Our history
Mount Hope Cemetery was established in 1865 and has supported families for generations. Parkview Cemetery was created in 1966 to meet the growing needs of the community.
In 1978, a crematorium was added to Parkview Cemetery to offer families more choices for burial and cremation.
Together, Parkview and Mount Hope provide a peaceful setting for reflection, remembrance and connection.
Parkview Cemetery
Parkview Cemetery is designed as a formal, park-like space with evergreen hedges, gardens and landscaped features. It offers traditional burial, cremation and green burial options, as well as memorial benches, trees and plaques.
Many families visit Parkview throughout the year to honour loved ones and spend time in a quiet, natural setting.
Mount Hope Cemetery
Mount Hope Cemetery is one of Waterloo’s oldest burial grounds. Set within a more natural landscape, it offers traditional and cremation lots in a historic setting shared with the City of Kitchener.
With more than a century of history, Mount Hope reflects the growth and stories of the local community.
