Apply for a Mini Grant for Neighbours
Get up to $300 to support a project, event or activity that helps neighbours connect.

1. Check if you can apply
Mini Grants are for Waterloo residents who are planning neighbourhood projects.
Your project must:
- be led by neighbours or a neighbourhood group
- bring people together and encourage belonging
- include inclusive participation
- use funds for eligible expenses
You can get funding twice in a 12-month period for different projects.
2. Plan your idea
Think about your project:
- who will take part
- what you want to do
- where and when it will happen
- why it matters to your neighbourhood
3. Get inspired
Here are a few examples of neighbourhood projects that would qualify for funding:
- card-making workshop
- outdoor park events or sports activities
- scavenger hunt
- potluck, barbeque or cultural food celebration
- safety, wellness, or environment workshop
- sidewalk chalk, arts supplies or craft kits
- pollinator patches or gardens

4. Apply
Apply online or email neighbourhoods@waterloo.ca at least 1 month before your project starts.
Include in your application:
- a short description of your project – who, what, where, when, why and how
- how your project connects neighbours
- how much funding you need (up to $300)
- what you will spend the funds on
The neighbourhoods team will review your application and contact you with next steps.
