Placemaking brings neighbours together through art, colour, seating and other creative ideas that make shared spaces feel special.

It can be a mural, new seating or a fun feature that encourages people to spend time together.

Get inspired

Here are a few examples from Waterloo neighbourhoods:

  • storage box art in Mary Allen Park 
  • additional park seating in your neighbourhood park
  • gaga ball pit in Auburn Park 
  • community message boards in St. Moritz Park, Pinebrook Park, University Downs Park and more
  • community art fish installation in Mary Allen Park

Partner in Parks

The Partners in Parks program helps neighbours care for and improve Waterloo's parks. Learn more on the Help care for our parks page.

  • trail mulching
  • litter clean-ups
  • community planting
  • removing invasive plants
  • birdhouse maintenance and monitoring
  • little free libraries
  • community message boards
