Joint services
The City of Waterloo has a long history of working with the City of Kitchener on a variety of projects and initiatives, with the goal of providing residents in both cities with more efficient municipal services.
Since 2004, city staff have been working with Kitchener staff to formalize that long-standing partnership by identifying services we share and exploring opportunities to streamline some service delivery across both communities - a program known as the joint-services initiative.
Building on the program's immediate success, in 2006 both cities agreed to expand its scope beyond basic service delivery to include strategic initiatives and formally recognized the opportunity for both cities to share information and learn from each other's best practices.
On March 4 2024, staff presented a report and update (PDF) to council regarding the joint services accomplishments to date.
