Outdoor rinks provide a much-loved winter activity and are located in neighbourhood parks across Waterloo. All outdoor rinks are volunteer run and weather dependent.

Find an outdoor rink

For a list of outdoor rink locations, schedules, and rules please visit the City of Waterloo outdoor rinks webpage. For current rink conditions, visit your local rink from late November to mid-March.

Volunteer at outdoor rinks

Volunteers across Waterloo make outdoor rinks possible. A team of at least six volunteers, including a rink convenor, runs each rink. Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of two hours a week. Rink teams have three main responsibilities:

  • flooding
  • clearing snow
  • communicating rink rules

If you’re interested in volunteering at a rink, email waterloo rinks. Check out the Operating an outdoor rink how-to guide for full program operations.
