How the tree planting program works

Before planting:

• forestry staff review your request and confirm if a tree can be planted
• species are chosen based on the site and conditions
• a new tree may not be possible if there isn’t enough space or if utilities, signs or poles are in the way

When we plant:

• planting usually happens in spring or fall
• replacement trees are planted only after the old stump is removed
• you’ll get a notice at your door on planting day that lists the species

All city trees are protected under the City Tree Bylaw.

Plant a tree in your yard

The city partners with Reep Green Solutions to offer front and backyard tree planting at a reduced price.

The program includes:

• a property consultation
• one or two native trees
• delivery and full planting service
• a care and maintenance guide

Memorial trees

The city does not offer a memorial tree program.
