Button Factory elevator installation project

In 2021, City of Waterloo Council approved the release of funds for the design and construction of accessibility upgrades at the Button Factory. The upgrades are part of the City’s overall commitment to ensuring our facilities are inclusive for all members of the community.

Work onsite will begin the week of November 1, 2021 and will include installation of an elevator at the north west corner of the existing building. Upgrades to the exterior of the facility include; new lighting, sidewalks and curbs, tactile features and bollards in order to improve the accessibility from Regina Street to the elevator entrance.

We expect the work to take six months for completion and will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Should work be required outside of these hours, adherence to the noise bylaw will occur, or a variance notice will be given.
