City of Waterloo cancels Snow Event at 11:59 a.m. (noon) Wednesday. Significant Weather Event remains active.
The City of Waterloo is cancelling the current Snow Event and street parking ban as of 11:59 a.m. (noon) Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
The declared Significant Weather Event will remain in effect. The City declared a significant weather event on Feb.15 based on accumulated snow and credible forecast information. The significant weather event has remained in place since to allow City staff the extra time needed to service roads, sidewalks and trails, to reach a point when normal operations can resume.
Our crews continue to work around the clock on snow clearing and removal across the city. This includes snow removal activities on LRT, main roads and arterials, and GRT routes, while also working to widen roads that have been narrowed by snowbanks, improve sightlines and address large snowbanks at intersections across the city.
Roads within our community have been prioritized for snow clearing/street widening based on available lane widths and sight lines at intersections, and it will take time to work through these priorities.
Parked cars are the main obstacle for crews trying to complete snow clearing and removal activities. While the parking ban will be lifted once the snow event is cancelled, please keep parked cars off city streets as much as possible to help us continue snow clearing and snow removal as effectively and efficiently as possible.
While the Significant Weather Event remains active, we urge all residents to take extra precautions when using roads, sidewalks and walkways. The snow accumulation is significant and some surfaces and pathways remain constrained, slippery, or blocked due to limited snow storage. Sightlines at intersections, driveways and pedestrian crossings may also be constrained. Please take all precautions before proceeding onto a roadway or crossing a driveway.
Residents are encouraged to subscribe to the City’s newsfeed or follow the City on Twitter/X or Facebook to determine when a parking ban is in effect.
