Council approves two new park splash pads

Blue Beech Link Park and Eastbridge Green Park will be the sites for two new splash pads. Council approved spending $1.3 million for these park amenities that are sure to bring hours of enjoyment for park users.

These are the third and fourth new splash pads installed by the city in the last few years. In addition to the Waterloo Park water play area, a new splash pad was part of the overall development of the Albert McCormack Central Plaza, which opened last year.

Council approves major reconstruction enhancements to Weber Street

New cycling facilities, improvements for pedestrian traffic and traffic signal modernization are among the people-focused enhancements planned for Weber Street from Blythwood to Northfield. The project is a joint effort with the Region of Waterloo and also includes sanitary, storm, and watermain rehabilitation as well as roadwork. Council approved spending just under $5.3 million for upgrades to City-owned infrastructure along this corridor.
