City of Waterloo extends submission deadline for prospective tenant for Carnegie Library building
The City of Waterloo has extended the submission deadline for prospective tenants for the Carnegie Library building.
City staff hosted a series of open houses in March prior to the pandemic forcing organizations to shut down operations. As businesses begin to reopen, the city has extended the deadline to Sept. 30, 2020 to ensure prospective tenants have a chance to submit their interest.
The Carnegie Library is an iconic building of historic and architectural significance, located at 40 Albert Street, in uptown Waterloo, in proximity to the Waterloo Public Library, Waterloo Park and the Communitech Data Hub. With three floors, and a total leasable floor area of 463.4m2, the Carnegie offers an opportunity in a highly visible, prestigious location.
Planned renovations to the building including adding an elevator, removing interior walls and upgrading the building to current building code standards. The space will be open concept and flexible for future users to occupy in early 2022.
The Carnegie Library is intended to support a range of uses, including office, institutional arts, or cultural uses that will foster innovation, research, or creative arts industries, and further enhance the vibrancy of the uptown core.
Businesses, not-for profit groups, academic institutions and/or collaborations of groups interested in the Carnegie building are encouraged to submit an expression of interest. The city encourages organizations whose work or mandate will contribute to the economic vibrancy of the uptown core and further the goals and objectives outlined within the City of Waterloo’s 2019-2022 strategic plan.
The deadline to submit an expression of interest is September 30, 2020 by 4 p.m.
