City of Waterloo hosts Beats in the Square event celebrating PRIDE and Indigenous History month

Beats in the Square, happening Friday, June 5, is a free community event that celebrates 2SLGBTQIA+ people and Indigenous history and identity through music, dance, performances and community connection.

This year’s celebrations will start at 6:30 p.m. at Waterloo Public Square. The new evening start time accommodates more participants as this annual event continues to grow. Join us for free activities including live music, drag shows, Indigenous drumming and circle dancing, line dancing and more. A full itinerary of performances and times are available on the City’s Beats in the Square webpage.

Waterloo celebrates Pride and Indigenous History month with the belief that an inclusive city is one that recognizes differences and ensures residents have equal opportunities and benefits,” said Sanjay Govindaraj, Director, READI (Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion) team. “We support an enhanced sense of belonging for all residents and a commitment to reconciliation.”
