City of Waterloo invites residents to the 2026 Service Centre Open House
The City of Waterloo is welcoming the community back for the annual Service Centre Open House on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waterloo Service Centre.
This is a free, family-friendly event highlighting city services, equipment and a behind-the-scenes look at city operations. The event highlights the vital role of public works staff in maintaining city infrastructure and contributing to a high quality of life for all residents.
Each year, thousands of visitors attend the open house to enjoy a range of hands-on activities and demonstrations, including equipment rides, a petting zoo and a bouncy castle.
“City staff look forward to this event each year as a chance to connect with the community and showcase their work,” says Ron Ormson, Commissioner of Integrated Planning and Public Works at City of Waterloo. “They love seeing kids light up as they climb aboard city trucks and explore our equipment. It’s a great reminder of how meaningful public works is.”
The annual Service Centre Open House takes place each year around National Public Works Week, as a way to recognize the work of municipal staff and highlight essential services such as fixing roads, maintaining trees, trails, and parks, and facilities and city spaces that contribute to a safe, connected community.
