City of Waterloo salutes local volunteers for 2026 National Volunteer Week

The City of Waterloo is recognizing the people who help make the community stronger, more connected and more welcoming through the annual Community Builder Awards.

Each April, during National Volunteer Week, the city publicly thanks volunteers who give their time and energy to support city and city-affiliated programs, services and community initiatives. As part of this recognition, the names of the Community Builder Award recipients will be published on the City of Waterloo website.

The Community Builder Awards celebrate volunteers who provide ongoing service with the City of Waterloo and its affiliate programs. Recipients are recognized for their milestones, receiving recognition for every five years of service. Volunteers aged 25 and under are eligible for a two-year milestone pin, recognizing early and ongoing contributions.

This year, 273 volunteers were recognized for milestone service, including 27 individuals whose dedication spans over 20 years of service.

The City also extends its appreciation to all volunteers in Waterloo who contribute to many great local causes and the organizations that support them. Their efforts continue to shape a vibrant and caring community.
