City of Waterloo to mail revised voter notification cards
Incorrect information was mailed to City of Waterloo voters for the upcoming municipal election. Replacement voter cards will be mailed the week of October 3.
The information identifying voting locations on October 24, 2022 listed the incorrect regular voting location. Instead of the voter’s neighbourhood polling station, the cards direct them to one of the City of Waterloo supervote locations or one other community centre. People can still vote at the location listed on the card. Anyone living in the City of Waterloo can vote at a supervote location on election day, however for convenience and to avoid crowds, voters may prefer the location closer to their own neighbourhood. Replacement cards, which will include the appropriate polling station locations, are being printed and mailed to all voters the week of October 3, and should be received in time for the election. The voter card information for the advance voting days and the supervote sites is correct.
We encourage all voters to look for their regular voting location on the new voter information cards that will be mailed out. Voters can also verify their information and regular voting day location at waterloo.ca/elections, under When and where to vote.
Voter notification cards are not required to vote, although they do make the process on voting day faster. The four sites voters have been mistakenly directed to for normal voting are city facilities. Any eligible City of Waterloo voter can cast their ballot at a supervote location on October 24, but these locations may be busy. These sites will have additional resources available on election day, and the city will make sure that all eligible voters can vote.
