Go paper-free: view and pay City of Waterloo tax and water bills online

The City of Waterloo has successfully launched a new online service to allow residents to view and pay water or tax bills online. In the spirit of Waste Reduction Week, the city encourages all residents to consider electronic billing through the online system and make the change from paper-based mail.

Paperless billing for city accounts was previously offered through Canada Post epost. With this service being discontinued, the City of Waterloo now offers our own online service for property tax and water bills to:

  • view your bill
  • pay your bill
  • get bill notifications
  • receive electronic bills
  • track water usage

To sign up for the new online service, you need the account number and access code from your most recent bill. Once you sign up, you can add and access multiple water and tax accounts with a single login by clicking “Add Account” on the upper navigation. The same system is used for both tax and water bills; since not all users pay both bills, there are two access points for the online system. For more information and to sign up for the online service, visit

You can also pay your bills through the online service using:

  • bank account details (no fee)
  • debit card (0.75% fee)
  • credit card (1.75% fee)

Users who have a pre-authorized payment plan set up with the City of Waterloo will continue their current payment arrangements. You can also continue to pay your bills through telephone or online banking, by mail, or in person.
