Holocaust Remembrance Day

On this day eighty years ago, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was liberated. The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, is one of the darkest moments in human history with over six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis.

As we pause to honour the victims, we also reflect on the dangers of anti-Semitism and how oppressive systems can foster discrimination and genocide, leaving lasting effects on communities for generations.

As a City, we re-commit ourselves to upholding human rights and challenging anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry in all its forms.
